This Privacy Policy explains how Aeon Softworks (“Aeon,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you use aeon-softworks.com and related services (the “Service”). It should be read together with our Terms of Use.

1. Who we are

Aeon Softworks operates the Service, including F.E. Prep digital study materials, engineering tools, account features, and product waitlists (including Aeon Studio).

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

• Account information — email address, name or display name, and authentication details when you create or use an account (including via Google or other login methods you choose).
• Waitlist information — email address and product interest when you join a waitlist.
• Support communications — content you send to [email protected].
• Purchase-related information — email, product purchased, and transaction identifiers needed to deliver access. Full payment card numbers are handled by our payment processor (Stripe), not stored on our servers.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Technical and usage data — IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, timestamps, and approximate location derived from IP, via hosting and security logs (for example Cloudflare).
• Cookies and similar technologies — session and preference cookies (for example theme preference), authentication cookies from our identity provider, and an access cookie used to unlock paid curriculum after purchase.
• Local storage — study progress or preferences stored in your browser on your device.

2.3 Information from service providers

We receive information from processors that help us run the Service, including authentication status from Clerk, payment and customer details from Stripe (for example paid/unpaid status and email), and operational data from our host.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• Create and secure accounts, and authenticate you;
• Process purchases and grant or revoke access to paid content;
• Operate waitlists and send product availability or account-related messages;
• Provide customer support and respond to requests;
• Maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and debug the Service;
• Improve content and site performance;
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly defined under U.S. state privacy laws.

4. Legal bases (where applicable)

If you are in a region that requires a “legal basis” for processing (for example the EEA/UK), we typically rely on: performance of a contract (account and paid access); legitimate interests (security, improvement, basic analytics); consent (where we ask for it, such as certain marketing emails); and legal obligation where required.

5. How we share information

We share personal information only as needed to operate the Service:

• Clerk — authentication and account identity;
• Stripe — payment processing and related fraud prevention;
• Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, security, and edge functions;
• Email or other vendors — if we use them to send transactional or waitlist messages;
• Professional advisors or authorities — when required by law, or to protect rights and safety;
• Business transfers — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer under appropriate confidentiality safeguards.

These providers process data under their own privacy terms. We require them to use personal information only to provide services to us, except where they act as independent controllers (for example Stripe for payment processing).

6. International transfers

We and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers as offered by our providers.

7. Retention

We retain account, purchase, and entitlement records for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide access, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion, unless we must retain them longer. Browser-stored progress remains on your device until you clear it.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to our size and the nature of the data (including HTTPS, access controls, and processor security features). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you use the Service at your own risk regarding residual security risk.

9. Your choices and rights

• Account — update profile information through your account provider flows where available.
• Marketing / waitlist email — unsubscribe via the link in the email or contact us.
• Access / deletion — request a copy or deletion of personal information we hold by emailing [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity and retain certain records where legally required (for example completed purchase records).
• Cookies — you can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may break sign-in or paid access.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection). To exercise them, email us. If we decline a request, we will explain why where required by law.

10. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

11. Do Not Track

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. The Service does not currently respond to those signals in a uniform way.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version with a new “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice when appropriate. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you acknowledge the updated policy.
